[December 3, 2023] EPC Sunday Sermon Reflection Questions

Series: Discipleship
"A Disciple Perseveres After Jesus"
Romans 12:9-21

  1. The Apostle Paul begins his encouragement to the church by stating that "love must be genuine".  What do you think he means by that and how can we be sure that the love that we show and practice is genuinely Godly?
  2. Verse 18 teaches us, "If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all".  To be at peace with others is not about simply avoiding conflict and people, but about striving to live in community and discipleship with others as disciples of Jesus; even and especially through hardship and frustration.  How do you seek to actively "live at peace" with others and where might you be struggling with this?
  3. Pastor Eugene Peterson reminds us that Christian discipleship is "a long obedience in the same direction."  Especially when it comes to living and growing as a disciple, it requires intentional and thoughtful study and correcting our course in Godly wisdom.  How much of our discipleship is committed to studying and reflecting on God's Word to lead us?  If you struggle with this, why?
