[September 11, 2022] Sunday Sermon "Reflection Questions"

Series: The Beatitudes
"Blessed Are Those Who Mourn"
Matthew 5:1-12

  1. How do you normally respond when you are feeling down or going through a season of hardship?  How does it line up with a response of trust in Jesus as Lord?
  2. The promise that Jesus gives in the Beatitudes is that if we mourn of our sin (and the brokenness of the world), He will not only hear and forgive us, but He will comfort and bless us.  How does trusting in this promise encourage you and transform your perspective on how to respond to God in our sin and suffering?
  3. As God promises to bless and comfort us as we turn to Him in mourning and confession, we not only receive this ourselves, but we are also called to be a comfort to others who suffer under the weight of sin and hardship (2 Corinthians 1:3-7).  As God uses all things for our good and His glory, how can you actively be a source of encouragement, blessing and comfort to another you know is struggling in some way?
